For over a decade Comalatech’s Comala Workflows product has helped thousands of people add controls to their Atlassian Confluence documentation. We recently reached a major milestone for the app, as newly-launched version 4.18 on the marketplace includes a vastly improved and intuitive UI.

We’ve Been Listening

Your feedback has been heard, whether you shared it in person, via a support ticket, or through our community page. The Comalatech team has been hard at work designing our new UI to be user-friendly and easy to use. The new UI is built to be:

  • Intuitive, and aligned to Atlassian’s latest design language.
  • More accessible and easier to use.
  • Smarter, and with a better UX.

Here’s a closer look at the features of the new UI:

Simplify Confluence with the Redesigned Workflows Dialog Pop-up

For many users, the Workflows dialog pop-up is a critical part of their day-to-day work. With so much importance placed on this pop-up, it’s critical that it delivers maximum value for users. That’s why one of our priorities was to centralize all the information teams need to review and approve pages inside the pop-up. We’ve moved the functions from the old Workflows button and placed them within the pop-up dialogue, making it clearer and easier to use the app.

Work Faster Thanks to the Slick new UI

We redesigned the Comala Workflows to not only fit in better with Atlassian’s new design language, but also to provide better visual cues to users. The biggest change you’ll notice is the addition of the new Workflow Status Indicator icon, the circular disc located beside the Workflows dialog pop-up. This icon is color-coded to page states, and will change color depending on where the page is inside the Workflow. Now it’s even quicker to know where a page is at in the review process as you can see at a glance any page’s status.

More Clarity and Helpfulness Reduces Confusion

One piece of consistent feedback we’ve heard is that users don’t like having to click deep into menus to find the things they’re looking for. With the new UI we’ve taken steps to reduce clicks and allow you to get the information you need quicker. Activity trackers, tasks, Workflow states, they’re all quick to find in the Workflows dialog pop-up, and they are programmed to appear intuitively in the dialog pop-up.

First Class Tasks

Tasks are a core mechanism for ensuring specific actions are completed at predetermined points of the workflow, before moving to the next state. The new interface presents a more intuitive way to handle your tasks, and effectively notifies you when actions are required.
